For the purposes of this chart the bonus ball numbers have not been included.

The first thing that stands out about the lotto draws in September is that there was only one draw which didn't have any jackpot winners at all.  Needless to say the following draw had a sizeable jackpot that was won by a single person!  There were sixteen lucky jackpot winners throughout the whole of the month.

So the biggest jackpot was £7.52 million for the last draw of the month, and the smallest was £1.79 million for the first draw of the month.  The smallest jackpot share was £448, 851 on the 3rd of September, and the largest was a whopping £7,527, 304 on the 27th, which was a rollover draw.

So all in all the jackpot winners all did very well last month – we do sometimes see very low jackpot amounts where the five balls plus bonus prize is very similar to what the jackpot winners get, but that wasn't really the case this time around.  Although we're sure that you'd rather have won the jackpot on the last draw of the month rather than the first!

So which numbers kept popping up over and over again last month?  And more to the point, did you have any of them yourself?  The numbers 3, 7, 15, 22, 29, 40 and 44 all came out twice each, while 5, 9, 21 and 35 all managed to make three appearances each.  But 24 was the most popular number of all, appearing in four out of the eight draws last month.

And what about some pairs?  Well, 35 and 36 appeared together, as did 15 and 16.  The other pairing we saw was 28 and 29 – but we didn't see any triples last month, so bear that in mind for the next few draws, particularly as the numbers seemed to be quite well spread out in all the draws last month.

So which numbers didn't we see at all during September?  The numbers to make that list this time around were 2, 8, 10, 12, 17, 18, 23, 25, 26, 30, 31, 32, 33, 34, 37, 39, 41, 42, 45 and 49.  The most obvious place to dig in for numbers for October then would seem to be the run of numbers between 30 and 34 – especially as we had very few pairs and no triples in September.  In fact the thirties were very much under-represented during September, so keep an eye out for them in the near future.  Who knows, they might just net you a fortune!

So all in all it was quite a steady month during September, with a reasonable number of winners and only one draw with no jackpot winners at all.  Perhaps we will return to a month of extremes next month?

Other winners

What would you have won if you had drawn five numbers plus the bonus ball during the month of September, I wonder?  Here's the answer!

On Wednesday 3rd September, twenty nine people won £19,049 each.

On Saturday 6th September, eight people netted an impressive £170,150 apiece.

On Wednesday 10th September, eleven people picked the right numbers to win £64,260 each.

On Saturday 13th September, eight people got a wonderful £175,042 each.

On Wednesday 17th September, six people won £99,362 apiece.

On Saturday 20th September, thirteen lucky winners got £106,361 each.

On Wednesday 24th September, two people bagged an amazing £412,229 each.

On Saturday 27th September, nineteen people won £78,507 each.

So the lowest payout you could have expected for five numbers plus the bonus in September was £19,049 and the highest by far was the incredible £412,229.  That's a difference of £393,180!

The best day to win was obviously the 24th, while the 3rd pulled in the lowest prize, although no one would want to turn down nineteen thousand pounds anyway!

Lucky 7 was clearly a good bet here, as it came out twice in all.  Only two out of the eight weeks saw a double digit number appear in the results, although the numbers as a whole favoured the higher end of the scale.

What numbers will we see as the Thunderball numbers next month, I wonder?

EuroMillions

If you remember last month, we ended up with a whopping jackpot of £73.53 million to hand out, as there were no jackpot winners at all during August.  What happened in September?

Incredible as it may seem, that huge jackpot rolled over for another week, resulting in a whopping £96.49 million pound bounty to be won.  And it was divided between two people, who bagged nearly forty eight and a quarter million pounds each.

The second week we had one winner of the £11.90 million jackpot, but the third week saw no winners and we had a rollover once again.  But the final jackpot amount of the month was over a hundred million pounds, as it was deemed to be a Superdraw.  While no one bagged that amount it was divided between those players who got all five main numbers plus a Lucky Star.  They must have been counting their lucky stars too, since fifteen lucky people each won over seven million pounds.

Lotto Hotpicks

The top prize here is just £130,000, which looks even smaller than usual this week given the size of that EuroMillions jackpot for the last draw of September!

We had just two winners this month, both occurring on Saturdays, on the 13th and the 20th of the month.  So successes here were very thin on the ground this time round.

Unlike last month we didn't have any trios of numbers coming out this time, so it might be worth playing one next month if you are feeling lucky!

Dream Number

If you have been keeping up with this draw run by the National Lottery, you will know that we never seem to see a main winner for the half a million pound top prize.

That may partly be because most people like to play the main Lotto draw, where the top prize can be a lot higher, but also because this one is a particularly tough nut to crack.

And during the whole of September we had... TWO WINNERS!  Yes believe it or not two people finally got lucky and got the exact seven numbers they needed in the right order to win the half a million pound top prize.

And that probably means we'll be back to zero winners again next month...

Daily Play

Last time we saw seven winners who managed to grab a prize during one of the days the Daily Play competition was running.  Did anyone manage to succeed during September?

Well we had eight winners in total – two of which were on the 23rd of the month and two were on the 24th!  So clearly, the second half of the month was the best time to start playing Daily Play.

Overall results

So it was a pretty amazing month all in all in September, with plenty of winners, two huge jackpots in EuroMillions and even two lucky winners in the Dream Number draw.

There's no doubt that there is still plenty to play for though, as we head for a fresh month and more draws to enter, and while the main Lotto draw is still the most popular one for a lot of people, why not try your luck in one of the others as well?

You never know, it could be just what you need to succeed...
