For the purposes of this chart the bonus ball numbers have not been included.
If you remember from last month, you’ll know that April’s draws had four where no one won the jackpot. This time around, there was only one draw with no winners. And in contrast we also saw one draw with five jackpot winners and one with a massive eight jackpot winners! That is something you don’t often see.
As a result the jackpot shares were equally interesting. The smallest share was on the last draw of the month, on the 30th, when five people each picked up £873, 252. That’s still a great jackpot share, we think you’ll agree. The largest was back on the 23rd, one week earlier, when two people ended up £3,906,077 richer. That was for a rollover draw too, so the total jackpot was higher than it would have been otherwise.
But what about the frequency of numbers drawn? How many popped up more than once? Well there were a lot of numbers that came out twice each, and here they are – 17, 32, 34, 1, 13, 20, 42, 5, 45, 12, 41, 48 and 2. And the numbers that came up three times each were 10, 9, 31 and 37. Nothing came out four times this month, so perhaps that leaves it clear to see something appear next time?
But of course as always, there were some numbers which didn’t appear at all during any of the draws. These were 3, 4, 7, 11, 14, 15, 18, 21, 22, 23, 26, 29, 35, 36, 38, 39 and 49. Perhaps the most noticeable thing there is that the forties appeared almost entirely, with the exclusion of just one number. Might this mean we don’t see them so much next time? It could be an area worth looking at. Similarly the teens and the low twenties were underrepresented, so bear these in mind too.
As for pairings, we had the same result that we’d seen the month before, with just one pairing popping out. This time it was 45 and 46, so think about including some extra pairs next time too!
Other winners
So we’ve seen how many people hit the jackpot during May. But how many lucky five plus bonus winners were there – and how much did they each scoop? Let’s take a look and see.
On Saturday 2nd May, eight people took home £199,936 each.
On Wednesday 6th May, seven people won £101,849 apiece.
On Saturday 9th May, an incredible twenty eight people won £48,655 each.
On Wednesday 13th May, nine people netted £92,340 each.
On Saturday 16th May, a respectable eighteen people bagged £67,510 each.
On Wednesday 20th May, just three people won £284,335 apiece.
On Saturday 23rd May, eight people won £193,841 apiece.
On Wednesday 27th May, nine people took home £86,069 each.
On Saturday 30th May, a whopping sixteen people won £83,966 each.
So all in all we had one hundred and six bonus ball winners in May. The largest number was twenty eight on the 9th, and the smallest was three on the 20th. The biggest share of the second prize was £284,335 on the 20th, and the smallest was just £48,655, on the day that twenty eight people won.
It was a good month in short then, with plenty of cash won by well over a hundred bonus ball winners!

Now if you remember from last time, there were no winners at all during April. And that continued for the beginning of May too – leaving us with a huge £113 million pound jackpot to be won on the 8th May.
And that was won by just one person! They weren’t in the UK though, so better luck for us next time perhaps?
Lotto Hotpicks
Time to take a look at some of the other more minor draws now, beginning with the Lotto Hotpicks draw. This has a top prize that looks tiny when you compare it to the massive EuroMillions draw above – it comes in at just £130,000.
There was just one single winner for the whole of May, so we’ll have to wait until next month to find out whether that can be improved upon.
Dream Number
Getting seven single numbers in a row sounds easy doesn’t it? But you not only have to pick the right seven numbers, you also have to get them in exactly the right order. That’s why Dream Number very often doesn’t produce many winners at all.
But were there any in May? Once again there was just the one, scooping the half a million pound top prize on the 23rd.
Daily Play
Seeing as this is a daily draw – excluding Sundays – there is no surprise that the jackpot is quite low. You’re looking at £30,000 here, and quite often there are only a few winners.
But May turned out to be a big month for this draw, with a full five jackpot winners in total. These were on the 1st, 11th, 12th, 14th and 25th. Perhaps this will mean there aren’t many – if any – winners at all next month? We’ll see.
Overall results
Well, overall we have to say this was an exciting month. With a huge jackpot rolled over on EuroMillions and plenty of big winners on our own main Lotto draw, there was a lot of excitement to be had.
The question is whether you had any of the numbers that mattered. Some people change their numbers with every draw, while others stick to the same ones time after time. Still more use a combination of both techniques!
But whatever you do to try and get lucky and win it big, we can assure you that there are plenty more chances to win next month. There might be long odds against winning the jackpot but who knows, you might get lucky. And with our regular look at what is going on in the lottery world, if there are any patterns or themes that stand out among the numbers, we’ll let you know about them.
So perhaps now is the best time to think about what numbers you want to enter for the next draw. And let us wish you good luck for a great result! We’ll see you next month.
