Monthly Review Of Lottery Draws For February 2009

So how did you do last month?  Did you have any winning lines on the lottery draws that you decided to play?

This is the time as always that you should grab all the tickets you haven’t yet checked and keep them close at hand.  You never know – one of the results we will shortly be revealing could be good news for you!

February offered up some wonderful prizes for those who did pick the right numbers.  But even if you only managed to net a few pounds you will no doubt be glad you did.  But who knows, you might have got lucky…

So let’s start as we usually do by focusing on the Lotto draw, before checking the numbers for the others that took place last month.

For the purposes of this chart the bonus ball numbers have not been included.

So what results did we get this month?  Well, as far as the jackpot winners were concerned, we actually had three draws where no one bagged the jackpot.  In four of the draws – 50% of the total draws for the month – one person won the top prize each time.  And the highest number of jackpot winners was two, which occurred in the final draw of the month.

The biggest jackpot share was won by a single person on the 14th February.  That amounted to an impressive £7,769,924.  The smallest jackpot share wasn’t to be sniffed at either though – coming in at £3,325,788 in total.  That was on the 18th.

So let’s take our usual look at which numbers popped out more than once during last month’s Lotto draw.  We had quite an array of numbers which all came out twice each – they were 4, 33, 26, 38, 46, 19, 45, 39, 42, 6 and 37.  Just two numbers came out three times though, and these were 24 and 25.  And we didn’t see any numbers that popped out four times last month.  Perhaps this was one reason why we didn’t see too many jackpot winners?

Number 39 is still popular though – it came out twice this month as a main ball, after appearing five times as a main one in January.

So which balls didn’t show up at all during the main draw in February?  Here they are – 1, 8, 10, 11, 12, 13, 15, 20, 21, 27, 28, 30, 34, 35, 48 and 49.  So we had a lot of numbers in the teens there that didn’t show up at all, and that is the same as the pattern we saw in January.  Perhaps they will all make up for it next month?

We saw a few pairings too, including 46 and 47 in the third draw and 42 and 43 in the last one.  But the second draw result saw a triplet showing up among the winners – 24, 25 and 26 to be exact.  If you picked those you would have been halfway to the jackpot!

Other winners

So we’ve covered who won the jackpot and when, but we haven’t taken a look at whether we had lots of bonus ball winners yet.  Let’s do that right now.

On Wednesday 4th February, four people won £216,567 each.

On Saturday 7th February, a whopping sixteen people bagged £89,696 each.

On Wednesday 11th February, just five people netted £172,677 each.

On Saturday 14th February, fifteen people won £101,823 apiece.

On Wednesday 18th February, there were no bonus ball winners at all.

On Saturday 21st February, eleven people won an impressive £143,519 each.

On Wednesday 25th February, six people won £135,825 each.

On Saturday 28th February, fourteen people netted £114,916 apiece.

So the highest payout during February was £216,567 on the very first draw of the month.  And the lowest was zero!  Yes, there were no winners at all in the draw on the 18th February, and that is quite an unusual event.  But perhaps it is to be understood seeing as we had very few jackpot winners also.  Maybe we just weren’t getting the right numbers last month!

Thunderball Results

Let’s take a look at what happened in the Thunderball draw now, to see which numbers popped out as the Thunderball number.

It seems we are back to having some lower numbers appearing as the Thunderball this time round.  Only two out of the eight draws featured a double digit number as the Thunderball – and on both occasions it was the number 12 which got the honour.

The first draw of the month saw two winners share the jackpot, but after that there were no winners at all.  That’s why the jackpot amounts above carry on going up as the month went on.

Needless to say we’ll be starting with a monster of a draw next month…

Lotto Hotpicks

There was just one winner of this prize during February.  That occurred on the 4th, when one lone winner scooped the £130,000 top prize.

We don’t tend to see too many winners of this prize each month, precisely because some people prefer to play for the bigger jackpots that are available elsewhere.

Dream Number

We have a £500,000 top prize on offer here, but you have to get the numbers in exactly the right order to win.  It’s a bit like the Lotto Hotpicks draw in that we don’t see a lot of winners here either!

And in fact we didn’t see any winners at all during February, so we’ll be hoping to see one or two next month instead.

Daily Play

This is the draw that occurs every single day except for Sundays – and there is £30,000 on offer if you can match all the balls that pop up in the draw you have a ticket for.

And we actually had six winners in February – which is a lot for this particular draw.  The first one was on the 4th of the month, and we then had three all on the same day on the 11th.  That was obviously a very lucky day indeed!

We had a good break then until we saw the last two winners, which both occurred on the 26th of the month.  So it was a successful February for some of those who played the Daily Play draw.  Could it be successful for you next month, or will we see a quiet month because we had so many winners this time around?

Overall results

So there we are – something of an active month all in all.  We certainly had some surprising results here and there, such as the week in the main Lotto draw that didn’t produce any five plus bonus ball winners at all.  And of course we had six winners in the Daily Play draw as well.

But perhaps next month all eyes will be on the EuroMillions draw, which is looking set to produce an interesting result in the first week of March.  Will someone scoop the whole of that jackpot, or will they share it with someone else?  We could even see another rollover, which would certainly create a lot of interest for the following week!

Contrary to what often happens in the main Lotto draw though, we didn’t really see any notable number combinations this month.  Nothing really stood out as being particularly unusual – like the two threesomes we had last time.  Perhaps this means we will have a far more spectacular month in March than we might otherwise expect?

If you tend to change your numbers each week you might want to bear this in mind.  For example, there is the chance that we could see more pairings than we did this month.  Everything is random of course, but it does make life more interesting to try and guess what will turn up next.

And to that end, we will be here again next month to give you all the results that really matter.  So if you have your Lotto tickets ready to check, make sure you have them with you when you come back to read our article!

See you next time.
