Yes it is that time again when we have to take a look at all the lottery draws that took place during the previous month. And August was a busy month for the draws – with lots more winners enjoying some extra cash as a result of buying one or more tickets for their favourite draws.
Did you buy a ticket or two for the Lotto draw? Maybe you entered the EuroMillions draw in the hope of snagging a portion of those extra large jackpots?
Whatever ones you entered, now is the best time to take out those unchecked tickets to see whether you have matched up the numbers you need to succeed in the draw. For the purposes of this chart the bonus ball numbers have not been included.
So there are all the results you need to check your tickets for. And what do we have? Well, the largest number of jackpot winners for any draw occurred when three people won on the 26th August. There were six draws where just one jackpot winner took the prize each time and two more where no one took the jackpot.
But what about the highest and lowest jackpot amounts? Were these really large last month, given the fact that there were so many single winners?
Well the biggest jackpot amount was on the 8th of the month, won by a single person and amounting to a whopping £7,474,168. And the lowest was still a very respectable £2,223,990 on the 26th. So if you got the jackpot in August you were guaranteed to become a millionaire!
So let’s take a look at the most frequently occurring numbers during August. These were as follows – the numbers that came out twice were 40, 16, 44, 17, 26, 36, 47, 48 and 23. Coming out three times apiece were 27, 18, 32 and 39. And coming out four times was just one number – 9.
And as always we saw a fair spread of numbers that didn’t appear at all. During August these were as follows – 4, 5, 7, 8, 12, 13, 14, 15, 19, 22, 25, 29, 35, 38 and 42. So you can see that every single one of the forties except for 42 came out at least once during August. And in addition to this, five numbers in the teens didn’t come out. Maybe we’ll see more of them next month?
But what about pairs? Was August a good month for seeing those? The answer is a definite yes, with all of the following coming out – 27 and 28, 32 and 33, 20 and 21, and 39 and 40. In addition to this we also had two notable weeks where we saw either two pairs, or a pair and a triplet, as follows – 31 and 32 as well as 46, 47 and 48, and 23 and 24 as well as 43 and 44.
What an active month it was!
Other winners
Of course you can still win it big with five numbers as well as the bonus. So let’s see how many people managed to do that during August. During July we had 98 winners here, so let’s see if August beat that.
On Saturday 1st August, eleven people won £128,478 each.
On Wednesday 5th August, seven people bagged £118,406 apiece.
On Saturday 8th August, fourteen winners got £105,064 each.
On Wednesday 12th August, ten people won £80,399 apiece.
On Saturday 15th August, eight ticket holders bagged £201,263 each.
On Wednesday 19th August, five winners took home £161,940 apiece.
On Saturday 22nd August, seventeen people won £83,054 each.
On Wednesday 26th August, thirty five winners won £18,313 apiece.
On Saturday 29th August, fourteen winners won £107,886 each.
So in total we had a huge 121 winners of the five plus bonus prize during August. The biggest bonus prize went to eight people on the 15th, when each won £201,263. And there was a big difference between that and the smallest prize, which was just £18,313 – won by a whopping thirty five people on the 26th.
So there was a big difference between those numbers – and it gave us lots to talk about during August.
Thunderball Results

So we had four double figure Thunderballs during August, with 14 coming out twice. Three weeks had a number of five or less coming out, so all in all there was quite an even spread between high and low numbers.

As you can probably tell from the amounts that are indicated in the chart above, we had a few rollovers during August!
And the rollover – a whopping £65.46 million – was won by two people, neither of whom registered their tickets in the UK. Better luck next time, hopefully!
Lotto Hotpicks
This lottery draw gives you the chance to take home £130,000. It doesn’t tend to have as many people entering it as some of the other draws which have bigger jackpots, but it’s still worth a flutter.
We had a single winner of the jackpot amount during August, which occurred on the 12th. Maybe we’ll see more next month? Good luck if you decide to give this one a go!
Dream Number
Seven single digits stand between you and £500,000 in this draw – and while no one got lucky during July, did we do any better during August?
As it turned out we didn’t – once again no one managed to get all seven numbers in the right order to win the half a million pound prize. Here’s hoping for better luck next month.
Daily Play
And finally there is the draw that you can play every day except for Sundays. This is the appropriately named Daily Play draw. As you might expect there is a lower jackpot amount on offer here, which amounts to a smaller £30,000.
But did anyone scoop that amount during August? As a matter of fact they did – two people got lucky, on the 4th and 7th of the month respectively. Congratulations to them, and good luck to you if you go for this draw during September.
Overall results
So there we are for another month. All the lottery draws both big and small went without a hitch, and produced lots more winners as a result. The main Lotto draw certainly made a lot of people millionaires, as it was the best month to draw all six numbers correctly.
But let’s not forget that huge rollover on the EuroMillions draw either. It’s a pity we didn’t have any UK jackpot winners there, but it has happened in the past and we’re sure it will happen again sooner rather than later. Perhaps you will be the next lucky winner?
