For the purposes of this chart the bonus ball numbers have not been included.
So this was a really interesting month – we had four draws out of nine with no jackpot winners at all! Four out of the remaining five draws had just one winner for the jackpot, while the other one had two. So really this was actually a low month in terms of the number of jackpot winners we saw overall.
So as you might expect, the jackpot shares – when we had them – were rather on the large size. Whereas the smallest share can often come in at less than a million pounds, that wasn’t the case last month. The smallest was actually £1,066,879 on the 15th. And the largest was one week earlier, when a whopping £10,784,075 went to just one winner.
But what about numbers that came out more than once? Did we see a lot of those, or was it a bit sparse like it was the month before? Let’s find out.
Well we didn’t see any numbers come out more than three times each. Nine numbers came out twice each though, and they were 5, 14, 18, 32, 21, 23, 48, 35 and 49. Another five numbers popped out three times each, and they were 24, 11, 39, 45 and 42. So it was an interesting month with regard to those numbers.
The following list of numbers weren’t seen at all during the main Lotto draw in April. These were as follows – 2, 4, 12, 16, 20, 22, 26, 27, 29, 37, 38, 44, 46 and 47. In fact out of the numbers that didn’t appear there was quite an even spread with regard to which ones came out and which ones didn’t.
And what about pairings? Did we see any of those come out during April? Perhaps surprisingly we saw just one - 42 and 43. So in is actually something of a surprise that we had so few jackpot winners, since the numbers were often quite evenly spread throughout the results.
Other winners
Well we know there weren’t many jackpot winners during April. But did that apply to the five plus bonus winners too – or did we see more of them? Let’s find out.
On Wednesday 1st April, eight people got £86,270 each.
On Saturday 4th April, eleven people won £140,933 apiece.
On Wednesday 8th April, an impressive nineteen people won £56,723 each.
On Saturday 11th April, an incredible twenty three people won £62,225 each.
On Wednesday 15th April, thirteen lucky people won £50,503 apiece.
On Saturday 18th April, seven people bagged £213,782 each.
On Wednesday 22nd April, just two winners got £429,807 each.
On Saturday 25th April, a whopping twenty one people bagged £74,392 each.
On Wednesday 29th April, just six people ended up winning £147,139 apiece.
So perhaps not surprisingly we saw a lot of five plus bonus winners, in stark contrast to few jackpot winners. In total there were a hundred and ten! And the biggest share on offer occurred on the 22nd, with £429,807. The smallest was on the 15th, with £50,503.
All in all, it was quite an interesting month in the main Lotto draw!
Thunderball Results
Was the Thunderball draw chosen by you during April? Here are the essential numbers:
Date | Thunderball Number |
Wed 01 Apr | 9 |
Sat 04 Apr | 7 |
Wed 08 Apr | 8 |
Sat 11 Apr | 14 |
Wed 15 Apr | 10 |
Sat 18 Apr | 11 |
Wed 22 Apr | 3 |
Sat 25 Apr | 1 |
Wed 29 Apr | 12 |
Last time around we had a lot of high numbers appearing as the Thunderball and this month was pretty much the same. Only four of the weeks had double digit numbers but three of the remaining ones had higher numbers too.
EuroMillions
Date | Jackpot |
Fri 3rd Apr | £25.87m |
Fri 10th Apr | £38.12m |
Fri 17th Apr | £51.69m |
Fri 24th Apr | £69.76m |
As you can probably tell, there was something of a lack of winners during April! In fact, none at all – which means May will begin with a huge jackpot just short of seventy million pounds. Are you going to be in for a share of that, we wonder?
Lotto Hotpicks
We’re looking at a top prize of £130,000 here, so there is a lot less on the table for grabs than some of the other draws offer you – particularly that EuroMillions rollover at the moment!
But a lot of people do still enter this draw, and we do still see some jackpot winners. And April brought us two more, one right at the beginning of the month on the 1st and one on the 4th. And then there were no more winners for the rest of the month.
Dream Number
There are seven numbers to match up in this draw, but you have to do it in the exact order that they are drawn in. If you manage it though, there is half a million pounds on offer to win, so it is worth a try!
March saw no winners at all, and that would prove to be the case in April as well. Does that mean May might bring better news? We’ll find out very soon.
Daily Play
There is £30,000 on offer here if you can match every single number that is drawn. And apart from Sundays, you can enter this particular draw every single day.
And we had three winners during the month of April – one on the 6th, one on the 21st and one on the 25th. It will be interesting to see how many daily winners we get next month!
We had five winners last month though, and six the month before, so by recent standards we didn’t see quite so many winners overall this time. Perhaps we are heading for a dry spell – or maybe we will be back up to getting half a dozen winners a month from May onwards?
Overall results
So it has certainly been an interesting month overall in the National Lottery draws. Perhaps the biggest news was the EuroMillions situation, where we saw no jackpot winners at all. That has given us a huge jackpot to kick May off with – and it could get even bigger if no one scoops it on the first draw of the month. We often see many more people buying tickets for a rollover draw, so there are more people in with a chance of winning it from the start.
And over in the main Lotto draw there were rather less jackpot winners than we sometimes see. But the five plus bonus winners were clearly out in force, as there were plenty more than we had the month before.
There were no particularly weird or wonderful number combinations in the Lotto draw this month either. Sometimes we’ll see a triple or quadruple run of numbers, or a combination of all high or all low. But this time there didn’t seem to be any of that. Does this mean it might be worth going for a different combination next time?
Only you can decide! But make sure you’re back here as always next month, so we can let you know whether the numbers you wanted really did come out after all. Good luck!
